This superb mid to late season variety of blueberry bush is particularly high yielding and will produce large quantities of juicy blueberries when planted alongside another variety for cross pollination. With supermarket costs ever increasing, why not grow your own. This variety provides seasonal interest with pearly white flowers appearing in spring against the lush green foliage, followed by mid to late summer fruits which help extend the fruiting season, while the foliage turns a vibrant fiery red in autumn before falling. Blueberry 'Powder Blue' is an attractive addition to patio containers, pots or acid soil borders. The fruits are a tasty addition to jams, pies and muffins.

Best grown in an acid soil or plant them in patio containers or pot using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Repot the plant at its original soil level and firm well into the new container. Water well and position in sun or semi shade. Alternatively, if you are gardening on acid soil plant directly in moist, well drained borders in a sheltered spot. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. After the first 2 or 3 years, begin to prune out the oldest stems each autumn to encourage healthy new growth the following year. Remember to cover fruits with netting in summer to protect your crop from hungry birds.
